Floral styling and photography days
My North Yorkshire studio has been busy this Autumn filled with the loveliest florals and flowery folk. Since my move to North Yorkshire in 2023, I have been offering one-to-one floral photography workshops for anyone who wants to spend some time creating imagery either with a DSLR or camera phone. This is the perfect way to hone your photography skills if you are a creative small business or hobbyist.
What you can expect from a day in my studio
My studio is set in a rural village just 5 miles from Thirsk and 20 miles from York. Surrounded by my garden, it is a little oasis of calm full of seasonal inspiration. The day is very much designed around what you would like to learn whether that be certain aspects of photography, styling or the chance to work with seasonal flowers in a relaxed setting. A warm welcome awaits where the kettle is always on and the cake tin never far away!
This time of year can be challenging for photography with lower light levels and lack of seasonal flowers. I will show you a few tips that will enable you to create content all winter long. My approach to Floral Photography
I have spent over ten years photographing flowers. I’ve worked and collaborated with some of the industries most creative designers and growers which has given me a great understanding and knowledge of how beautiful flowers can look when photographed with intention. I only use natural light and at this time of year when the light levels are low it can be tricky, but not impossible to create beautiful imagery. My studio is open all year round, but obviously the flowers are more abundant from March to October during the British flower season. I am passionate about seasonality and creating with what grows locally. I grow many of the flowers I use myself, but support Flowers from the Farm and often supplement the flowers from a local grower.
Floral Photography Retreats

How much is a day in the Studio
A day in the studio with me starts from £375 for a one to one photography workshop. This includes the cost of the flowers, a light lunch and refreshments and any vessel used during the day as well as all tuition and photos I take during the day.
